KLA Instruments is pleased to announce that its popular series of on demand, college-level instructional sessions in the field of nanoindentation is now available on the AZOM site. The goal of this 20+ part series is to provide students, researchers, and nanoindenter users with detailed technical education on various aspects of nanoindentation measurement and data analysis. The launch of this content on AZOM begins with Sessions 1 – 10, with additional content to be released throughout 2023 and beyond, as additional sessions become available.

Created and led by Jennifer Hay of KLA Instruments, this series was initially developed in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which severely curtailed in-person nanoindentation training for new users. The series has been designed to cover background and theory along with practical application discussions and demonstrations. Beginning with several introductory-level sessions, the course becomes more advanced in presentation of theory and more focused on specific use cases. As a result, the audience for these webinars has grown to encompass not only academia but industrial scientists and research institutions of all kinds.
Note that users of systems other than KLA Instruments nanoindenters will also find the subject matter highly useful and relevant.
Jennifer Hay is a Senior Applications Scientist for KLA Instruments, specializing in nanoindentation. Prior to joining KLA, she held similar positions at Nanomechanics, Keysight, Agilent, and MTS Systems Corporation. Jennifer has worked in the field of nanoindentation since 1996, advancing standardization while also developing methodology for new applications including thin films, polymers, gels, and biomaterials. Mrs. Hay served as the chair for the MEMS/Nanomechanics technical division of the Society of Experimental Mechanics (SEM), and she has authored many journal articles on nanoindentation, including an invited feature series in the SEM journal Experimental Techniques.
