Large Envelope Machining with High Accuracy

The Johnford Vertical Machining Center (VMC) is a new piece of equipment acquired by Insaco in response to our customer’s request for larger envelope machining capability. The VMC has a diamond grinding accuracy to .0005” within an oversized 102” x 70” x 30” envelope. In addition to meeting specific grinding tolerances, the VMC has an add- on feature (shown here) with a man-assist crane for handling large ceramic or glass pieces. The VMC works in concert with our Coordinate Measuring Machine which allows documenting critical tolerances with accuracy of down to one half micron.
