After magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was invented in the 1970s, it has become an industry standard medical tool for diagnosis and treatment. However, processes requiring catheterization would still depend upon X–ray as a means to guide the catheter because of the MRI– incompatibility of the metal construction catheter. X–ray guided techniques thus exposed both patients and Doctors to ionizing radiation. Of late though, there has been a refocused effort towards excluding the radiation component from catheter processes.
Zeus’ MRI–compatible LCP monofilament fiber is the answer to this challenge. With excellent tensile strength, Zeus’ LCP monofilament is perfectly suited for catheter braiding reinforcement allowing catheter construction without the employment of metals such as stainless steel. This progressive monofilament also offers superior torque response, pushability and distal end deflectability of the catheter. This material is autoclavable and is Class VI approved.
