Conventionally, all analytical instrumentation is located centrally in a Quality Control lab. This is always the case owing to the complexity of the equipment and the inability to place such sensitive/high-quality analytical instrumentation in remote locations because of environmental and transportation problems.

This disadvantage leads to the need to gather samples in the plant or the field and ship them to the main laboratory where they must wait until analyzed. Once the analysis is completed, the results are studied and decisions can be made in relation to the process under analysis.
As expected, there could be a delay of several hours to several days. In the case of certain samples, this delay can modify the formulation of the sample or condition, which makes the analysis not representative of what happens in the field in real-time.
Pi Portable: The Transportable Analytical Solution
The Pi Portable system from Vision Analytical is a full-featured particle size and shape analyzer that comes in a sturdy case. It has been designed as a suitcase-style system with wheels, which enables the high-resolution particle analyzer to be carried anywhere easily. A portable system facilitates at-site analysis with remote capabilities.

The system employs Dynamic Image Analysis as a direct measurement method, which is being used increasingly as a Quality Control tool for raw materials in several industries.
The Pi Portable has been engineered to function as a fully functioning Particle Size and Shape Analyzer. It can either be used in the lab, where ease of use and high-quality data are prerequisites, or closed and carried for remote use.
