Since 1973, Deltech Vertical Tube Furnaces have remained the top choice for petrologists. This preference began when NASA selected Deltech to design and construct vertical tube quench test furnaces for studying moon rocks. The lineage of this design continues to be extensively utilized in geoscience research laboratories globally.

Features
- Single and multi-zone designs. Every zone is individually temperature controlled. Each control system is UL508A compliant and certified by Intertek.
- Specify tube size up to 4”/10 cm O.D. and hot zone length up to 36”/91 cm. For larger diameter tubes, a member of the engineering team will elaborate on how the tube plugs and thermal fixtures can reduce gradients.
- Sustained operating temperatures up to 1800 ºC.
- Mullite tubes exhibit excellent thermal shock resistance and are suitable for use at operating temperatures up to 1600 ºC. Beyond this temperature, 99.8 % alumina tubes are necessary to prevent creep.
- Optional features enable the use of more than one diameter of the tube.
- Bottom-loading vertical tube design (VTOSD) is ideal for applications requiring a load platform, such as when heating material in inert gas necessitates placement in a small crucible.
- Can be tailored to accommodate quench and tensile testing and other apparatuses.
- Split shell/clamshell designs for uses such as wall mounting or mounting to a stand.
- Optional water chillers.
- Optional water-cooled end caps create exceptional gas seals and allow shorter tubes to be used. Shorter tubes have greater resistance to thermal shock. They can be supplied with custom fittings and oxygen and thermocouple probes as desired. The end caps require two splm water flow. It can be a flow of tap water, which is then drained, or a closed loop chiller can be employed. (The chiller is more environmentally friendly.)
- Optional gas mixing and delivery systems comprise mass flow controllers, software-driven digital control systems, and an optional fluid distribution header.
- For certain models, optional NEMA One connector sets can be ordered, enabling system installation without the assistance of an electrician.
