Light Scattering Instruments

RSS
Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) instruments, which are also known as Photon Correlation Spectroscopy or Quasi-Elastic Light Scattering instruments, are non-invasive tools used to measure the size and distribution of submicron-sized particles. A DLS instrument functions using the illumination of a sample by a laser beam. From the sample, fluctuations of scattered light are detected by a fast photon detector, in which the known scattering angles are capable of determining the full particle size distribution within a sample. Emulsions, micelles, polymers, proteins, colloids, and nanoparticles are some of the many applications in which DLS instruments can be used.
