DuPont Glass Gives Building Shark Bite Mark

The new headquarters of Gas Natural Group in Barcelona, Spain, features a glass facade made with DuPont™ SentryGlas® Plus structural interlayers in the shape of a bite-mark.

DuPont™ SentryGlas® Plus structural interlayers helps to provide overhead glazing with a high safety factor and excellent post-breakage properties.

The facade was designed to look like it was caused by an imaginary shark that rose from the Mediterranean Sea, which neighbors the building.

This effect was created by 100 trapezoidal glass panels and uses a combination of strong and rigid SentryGlas® interlayers. The glass façade was designed, produced and installed by Permasteelisa España SA, the Spanish division of the Permasteelisa Group.

Due to the strength of the unique properties of the interlayer, SentryGlas® Plus laminates show excellent post-glass breakage performance versus other laminates,¡± said Luis Villanueva, general manager of Glass XXI, who helped produce the exterior glass.
