The Basque Institute for Agricultural Research and Development, Neiker-Tecnalia, has, over the past year, incorporated 52 new items of scientific equipment into its R+D laboratories in order to reinforce its lines of research and meet the challenges in new areas of knowledge and technology.
These acquisitions have involved an investment of about one million euros (979.012 €).Notable amongst the items of equipment acquired are :
HPLC MASS SPECTROMETER, GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY, AUTOMATIC DISTILLER, CAPILLARY ELECTROPHORESIS, IMAGE ANALYSER SYSTEM , MICROARRAYS LECTOR (LUMINEX), MICOBACTERIA CULTURE UNIT, VARIOUS PCR ITEMS (RT, FAST, etc.), UV-Vis SPECTROPHOTOMETER, etc.
These are complemented with other auxiliary laboratory equipment and an automatic data-gathering system for the control of the state of operation of all the equipment and the environmental conditions of the laboratories.
The incorporation of these items of equipment will enable a significant increase in the analytical capacities of Neiker-Tecnalia as regards chemical parameters. It will also favour the initiation or the strengthening of the application of techniques in molecular biology to numerous fields. Notable amongst these are the health of ecosystems, biological and food safety, the search for and production of substances of agricultural, food, industrial and pharmaceutical, interest, etc.
