DuPont recently presented the New Jersey Audubon Society a USD 25,000 DuPont "Clear into the Future" grant during a meeting at the Chambers Works plant in Deepwater, New Jersey. The donation was made to support the organization's ongoing conservation efforts in New Jersey.
"Clear into the Future: A DuPont Delaware Estuary Initiative" is a multi-pronged effort focusing on enhancing awareness, involvement and understanding of the Delaware River Estuary. It also supports a holistic, science-based approach to evaluating and implementing future improvements to the watershed.
"The grant will support the ongoing development of a shorebird re-sighting website and help to train and coordinate a network of shorebird siting volunteers," said Bob Hoke, from the Stine-Haskell Lab in Delaware. "The grant also will support the development of the New Jersey and Delaware Bayshore Birding and Wildlife Trails guide book and DuPont will become a trail-head sponsor." In 2007, DuPont presented the New Jersey Audubon Society a USD 10,000 grant to help with the initial development of the shorebird re-sighting database.
"We are pleased to support the Audubon's Society's environmental conservation efforts," said Bland Dickey, plant manager, DuPont Chambers Works. "Our employees support ‘Clear into the Future’ volunteer events and we look forward to building on this relationship with the Audubon Society."
