Silicon Quest International (SQI) and Topsil Semiconductor Materials are pleased to announce the signing of an agreement for sole U.S. distribution of Topsil Float Zone products, ranging from gas phase doped products to neutron irradiated products.
There is a growing need for Float Zone silicon in the U.S., as the power electronics market demand has steadily increased over the past few years driven by the need for better energy management. The detector and communication market also benefits from the highest purity silicon which supports new applications with higher speed and larger integration. In order to improve Topsil’s ability to serve these new markets, SQI has been selected to distribute Topsil products throughout the United States.
Beginning immediately, U.S.-based customers can contact SQI for quotes on the following state-of-the-art products, such as:
- Premium Float Zone Silicon (PFZ) and Neutron Transmutation Doped Silicon (NTD): Primarily for power and detector applications. PFZ silicon is available in 100-150mm diameters and can feature up to 5,000 ohm-cm in bulk resistivity. NTD is available in 50-150 mm diameters and up to 5,000 ohm-cm.
- HiRes™ silicon, the ideal wafer for emerging GHz applications, a solution for low loss microwave and millimeter wave components. Available in 100-150 mm diameters with bulk resistivity starting from 8,000 ohm-cm.
- High Purity Silicon (HPS), silicon wafers for low noise radiation and photonic detectors. Available in 100-150 mm diameters starting at 2,000 ohm-cm and upwards.
“SQI is thrilled and honored to be entering into this agreement with Topsil,” says Richard Mee, SQI President. “Our 13+ year experience distributing silicon wafers in the U.S., in addition to our in-house production and marketing expertise, makes us the perfect fit as a Topsil partner.”
“We see SQI as the front-runner in silicon distribution in the United States,” says Peder Mohr Jensen, Topsil CEO. “SQI has a strong background in Float Zone distribution supported by a strong sales and technical team. Their in-house production capability supports a fast turnaround time for introducing new products and solidified our decision to choose them as our sole distributor.”
