Aircrete Manufacturer Rewarded for Commitment to Sustainability

Recognition for aircrete manufacturer H+H’s sustainability effort is coming in from all directions. The first aircrete manufacturer to be awarded the Carbon Trust Standard, and the first company to be awarded a ‘very good’ rating in BES 6001:2008 Standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products, H+H has now also received the award for Achievements in Resource Efficiency at the Environment Awards for Kent Business 2009.

This latest award, organised by Kent County Council, recognises the environmental work undertaken by Kent businesses and was awarded to H+H on the basis of the company’s efforts in reducing fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and waste generation during recent years.

Dr Colin Cook, Chief Scientist at H+H UK said: “We are delighted to receive further recognition for our ongoing efforts to cut our carbon footprint. Cutting the energy used to manufacture and distribute our aircrete products is the only way to contribute further to the sustainability credentials of a product that is made of 80% recycled waste material. We are particularly pleased to be recognised by our county as we take our responsibility to our local community every bit as seriously as our commitment to the industry in which we operate.”
