Ceramic Fuel Cells Ltd and CERAM Design Fuel Cell manufacturing Plant

Australian company, Ceramic Fuel Cells Ltd, has just signed an agreement with leading international ceramics consultancy, Ceram, to design the manufacturing plant to put its fuel cells into mass production.

“CFCL is on track. We are continuing to meet the key business targets for volume production of our fuel cells” said Julian Dinsdale, Executive Chairman.

“Through this partnership with Ceram, CFCL teams up with one of the best companies in the world to design a ceramic fuel cell manufacturing plant for high volume mass production. Together our expert teams will design a plant that will deliver high volume, high quality and efficient production of our fuel cells”.

Ceram Research Ltd, based in the UK, will contribute expertise in design and manufacturing processes, and advise on location and specifications for a European manufacturing plant. Both Ceram and CFCL view this agreement as a vital step in a long-term partnership. CFCL is currently trialing skills and technology from companies in Japan and USA for potential incorporation into this world-class plant.

Ceram has significant expertise and a worldwide reputation in factory design and processing of ceramics. This international agreement puts CFCL in an excellent position for the early introduction of domestic-scale energy generators, based on solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs).

As noted by the Australian Government in its recent Energy White Paper, Securing Our Energy Future, CFCL is recognised as a world leader in solid oxide fuel cell technology. With this agreement, CFCL is gearing up for production, focussing on meeting demand in the growing European and Asian clean energy markets.

CFCL is designing fuel cell units that have application in products in homes and offices producing clean and efficient electricity for use on site or sale into the electricity grid.
