Zwick Launches 2000kN Electromechanical Screw Driven Testing Machine

Zwick has launched a new Z2000E 2000kN electromechanical screw driven testing machine. It offers a range of advantages compared with hydraulic machines, particularly with regard to accuracy, cost, flexibility, maintenance, and ergonomics.

The new Z2000E electro-mechanical materials testing machine is equipped with a ball-screw drive, guaranteeing maximum precision and a long service life. The large load range also allows small test loads to be determined precisely – with quick, simple adjustment of the machine.

The high crosshead positioning accuracy of 0.001 mm enables extremely accurate testing in the high capacity range, with Accuracy Class 0.5 (ISO7500) being attained from loads as low as 20 kN. The large measurement range also allows precise determination of smaller test loads and can be extended still further by the quick and easy attachment of lower capacity load cells.

The machine features a long test stroke of 1200 mm (including hydraulic grips) without the need to move additional crossheads, and allows straightforward clamping and testing of a wide range of specimen lengths. This generous test area height represents a competitive advantage which servo- hydraulic machines cannot offer.

As a result, the machine is especially suitable for use in steelworks, testing institutes and universities, where a wide range of specimen types and lengths must be tested. In particular, for those institutes requiring flexibility and looking to future testing requirements, the Z2000E can be used for testing specialized components such as Litz wires.

Without specimen grips the test stroke of 2500 mm renders the machine particularly suitable for variable size component testing.

The Z2000E features an extremely stiff and robust frame. The modular design of the complete testing system enables easy, cost-effective adaptations to accommodate customers' specific requirements, e.g. test area dimensions, test fixtures, extensometers, specimen grips, test speed ranges, test software - the entire Zwick accessory range is available. Additional test fixtures such as flexure and compression kits or smaller specimen grips are easily installed via T-slot or screw mounting systems.

Operators also benefit from the low noise level, as the machine operates without distracting power-pack fans. Environmental impact is significantly reduced, due to the much lower energy consumption required, compared to a hydraulic machine. Low-maintenance, play-free, pre-stressed ball screws guarantee long-term operation in the tensile and compression direction and reduce servicing costs.

The globally proven testXpert II test software controls and monitors test sequences. testXpert II's many benefits include pre-configured Test Programs for every standardized test, industry-specific package solutions and incredibly simple, intuitive operation.
