Pittsburgh-based Liberty Tire Recycling, the premier provider of tire recycling services in the United States, is taking attendees out of the exhibit hall and into the field at the 2010 APWA International Public Works Congress & Exposition (August 15-18 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, Massachusetts).
The company — along with D&H Equipment and All States Materials Group's blending crew — will take invited attendees on a rubberized asphalt technology tour, giving them a first-hand look at a current rubberized asphalt blending project in Boston. The tour is scheduled for Monday, August 16 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Liberty Tire Recycling will also serve as an exhibitor at APWA.
"As municipalities across the country look for ways to trim costs, we want to demonstrate how rubberized asphalt offers value to cities and towns, because it is considerably less expensive to maintain than traditional paving material," said Jeffrey Kendall, CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling.
The field tour will demonstrate how to use recycled tire rubber in thinner and more cost-effective surface treatments and hot mix overlays. Invited attendees from the conference will also learn facts about rubberized asphalt from industry experts, including how it can reduce maintenance budgets by 60 percent.
Liberty Tire Recycling is helping to make many of the nation's highways and roadways safer and more durable through the creation of rubberized asphalt. The company provides crumb rubber that is used in a host of municipalities and states, whose paving contractors then mix it with traditional asphalt to produce a high-performance alternative to traditional paving materials. Rubberized asphalt resists cracking and rutting, it improves skid resistance, and it makes for a quieter ride. It also decreases maintenance costs and provides an outlet for scrap tires that may have otherwise ended up in a landfill.
The 2010 APWA International Public Works Congress & Exposition marks the first time the American Public Works Association and the Solid Waste Association of North America are joining their annual conferences together, making it the leading industry event for public works professionals from all over the world. The Liberty Tire Recycling exhibit will be located at Booth 1324.
