Chinese producer and supplier of biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate (BOPET) films, Fuwei Films declared that its subsidiary Shandong Fuwei has inked a deal with Lindauer Dornier, an equipment distributor in Germany, to buy equipment for its new thick film BOPET manufacturing line in Weifang City, Shandong Province, China.
The new manufacturing line has an annual production capacity of 23,000 metric tons of thick film BOPET with thickness range between 38 to 250 µm. The thick film BOPET products are used for applications in the industries such as solar energy, electrical and electronics, including TFT-LCD.
As per the agreement, Shandong Fuwei will invest €16.45 million to purchase the equipment and the delivery date will be between June 2, 2012 and July 14, 2012. The production line is anticipated to begin its operation by 2012 end.
Lindauer Dorni and Shandong Fuwei had signed a contract initially on January 20, 2007 for a purchase price totaling €12.30 million with a delivery date as 2007 end. However, Shandong Fuwei was not able to pay the purchase price fully, which resulted in the suspension of the production line.
Shandong Fuwei restarted the negotiations with Lindauer Dornier in 2010 and both companies have decided to begin the new manufacturing line. The construction of the production line has already been completed.
