Saint-Gobain, a designer, manufacturer and distributor of building materials, has planned to construct a new plant for producing glass wool in the Kansai region, Japan.
The company will receive support from Mag-Isover, a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain and a manufacturer of insulation materials. Total investment for the construction is approximately €140 million.
The facility is estimated to produce 60,000 t of glass wool and the operation will commence by the end of 2013. The quantity will add to the production of Mag-Isover’s facilities. This increases the total glass wool production capacity of Saint-Gobain to 150,000 t.
In addition to the construction of a new glass wool facility, Saint-Gobain has taken an initiative for the Russian expansion. Saint-Gobain’s insulation division, Isover has acquired a manufacturer of rock wool insulation materials in Tcheliabinsk, Russia.
The acquisition of Linerock will help Isover in geographical expansion and also support the enhancement of its product range. This enables the company to attain a significant position in the rapidly growing insulation market of Russia.
