According to a market research report titled, ‘China PVC Market Report 2011,’available from Research and Markets, China's PVC output would achieve 12.08 Mt in fiscal year 2011.
China is the largest producer and consumer of PVC products in the globe. In 2010, China produced 11.3 Mt of PVC and consumed 12.55 Mt. The country’s PVC output is expected to reach 15 Mt by the end of the 12th Five period. Due to the rapid increase in production capacity in recent years, the PVC production capacity of the nation has attained 20.43Mt as of the end of 2010.
In 2011, the newly included PVC manufacturing capacity would attain 1.5 Mt in 2011. Constant increase in PVC manufacturing capacity increases competitive pressure between PVC production industries, while encouraging the development of high value-added downstream PVC products.
The average growth rate of the apparent consumption of PVC per year in China was nearly 10%. The consumption ratio of rigid PVC products such as pipe, profile and sheet materials rose due to real estate construction and development of rural urbanization, while the consumption ratio of soft PVC products utilized in plastic shoes, artificial leather and packaging materials decreased year by the year. In 2011, PVC price will sustain at a high level and the supply of calcium carbide will be the barrier in the production of PVC products.
