Core Molding Technologies, a company specializing in large-format moldings and provider of a wide range of fiberglass processes, has formed a new subsidiary, Core Specialty Composites and has established a manufacturing plant in Warsaw, Kentucky. The new business will support a major venture outside Core Molding Technologies’ traditional heavy truck markets.
The new business is expected to make $5 to $8 million revenue per year. The Warsaw facility includes 62,000 sq.ft of manufacturing space and it will receive additional management support from the company’s existing facility in Batavia, Ohio. The plant will initially produce large-format parts by using a customized fiberglass lamination process.
Mark Murfitt, Director of market development at Core Molding Technologies, noted that the company is currently working on tooling and purchase of necessary manufacturing equipment and permits. The company will make about $1.7 million capital investment for technology and equipment required for the facility’s operation. Core Molding Technologies has selected Warsaw due to quality of the labor market and the support offered by the officials and people in the Kentucky and Gallatin County.
Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Core Molding Technologies provides various fiberglass processes, including vacuum bagging, vacuum resin transfer molding (V-RTM), resin transfer (RTM), spray-up, compression molding of bulk molding compounds (BMC), long fiber thermoplastics (LFTP) and sheet molding compounds (SMC). The company also offers liquid molding of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD). Core Molding Technologies serves a broad range of industries, including automotive, marine, medium and heavy-duty truck and other commercial product markets.
