Integrated Green Technologies (IGT), a powder coating and equipment division of Organa Gardens International, announced that it has successfully performed the field trials for DURASPEED, a new marine powder coating.
The tests have been conducted at the Volvo Penta facility in Fort Myers, Florida. The launch of DURASPEED expands the line of marine products offered by the company.
DURASPEED coating has been developed for keel coolers, trim tabs, bow thrusters, shafts, drives and boat propellers. It is applied using the patented electrostatic thermal spray powder gun system and eliminates the requirement for a bake oven.
The proprietary foul release coating of IGT is free from environmentally harmful components. The coating prevents the growth of marine life on the parts’ surface. The exceptionally smooth surface of the release coating allows less resistance between water and the surface of the part. The trials compared this characteristic of the new coating with other smooth coatings and have proved that DURASPEED equalled or surpassed others in fuel efficiency and RPM increase. In addition, the comparison showed that all coatings excluding DURASPEED coating needs underwater cleaning in six weeks of the operation. IGT’s CEO, Joe Moretti stated that the product will solve several short and long term issues of the marine industry.
