US- based MetoKote has bagged an order to exclusively e-coat the service parts of the Germany-based auto manufacturer Volkswagen Group of America (VW). Volkswagen Group of America will manufacture its passenger car, Passat from its first assembly unit in the US. MetoKote is expected to provide e-coating services to VW on a regular basis by September.
VW will send orders through its Advance Shipping Notice system to Lebanon, where MetoKote’s regional coating centre is located. After receiving the orders, MetoKote will e-coat VW’s replacement body panels including doors, fenders, trunk lids and hoods. It will also coat other brackets and all other assemblies that have been welded. Besides providing the hem sealing to cover the replacement doors, MetoKote will also undertake the packaging, labelling and shipping of the parts to VW’s distribution centre. The replacement parts will reach various dealerships of VW located across the US from this distribution centre.
In order to support this business MetoKote has included one more e-coat and production shift with 7 new employees in every shift. According to Dan Noe, General Manager, MetoKote’s manufacturing plant located in Chattanooga, has reached full production to meet the demands of its most important customer. MetoKote provides a wide range of services such as environment-friendly and cost-effective coating solutions, coating for equipments and other management and support services to its 900 customers across 30 countries from the automotive, computer, agriculture, electrical, construction equipment, industrial equipment and recreational industries.
