Kyocera, a producer of fine ceramics and a supplier of printers, copiers, electronic component and other products, has introduced a new series of protective overcoat, KC-50, for thermal printheads.
The development enhances thermal printheads’ corrosion resistance property by six times than the conventional KC-17 protective overcoat. It also increases print quality and boosts energy efficiency.
The global market for thermal printers is growing as they offer a wide range of benefits, including exceptional durability, high-quality print, high speed, silent and maintenance-free operation and prevents the need for a toner or ink. These features enable the broad use of thermal printers that include generation of ID cards, merchandise labels, tickets, e-ceipts and other printed products. In addition, they are majorly used in industrial environments and outdoor equipment.
The new protective coat from Kyocera improves the durability by offering enhanced resistance to corrosion produced by industrial environments or outdoor settings. The KC-50 Series utilizes Kyocera's proprietary deposition technology and sealing materials to increase corrosion resistance, print quality and energy efficiency of thermal printers.
Kyocera holds the world’s leading market share for thermal printheads and the company focuses on developing products that addresses diverse customer requirements. Kyocera’s several flat-type thermal printheads with KC-50 protective overcoat will soon be available in the market.
