Deposition Sciences Introduces Long Wavelength Infrared Optical Coatings

US-based durable thin film coatings manufacturer, Deposition Sciences has launched its new line of sputtered long wavelength infrared optical coatings. The company has released two versions of its proprietary brand, MicroDyn sputtering deposition platform.

DSI's MicroDyn® Deposition Process Provides Highly Durable, LWIR Optical Filters

This product now comes in eight micron longwave pass and 10 micron narrow bandpass filters, which have high blocking facilities. The thin film coating is ideal for applications like thermal imaging and gas sensing since the transmittance levels of its in-band has been increased.

A salient feature of the thin film coating is that they are highly resistant to abrasion as compared to evaporated films and are thus cheaper to manufacture on a large scale. The process of sputtering also happens at very low temperatures and hence this makes the film compatible with photoresists. This also helps in patterning the filters using the technique of standard photolithography.

Deposition Sciences also manufactures multi layer films for applications ranging from military, industrial, commercial, and aerospace to biomedical, measurement and test. The company can also produce coatings that are ultraviolet, infrared, long-wave infrared and near infrared. The MicroDyn reactive sputtering technology from the company is patented and enables the use of high quality multi layer thin film coatings for optical and other technologies involving thin films.
