Cereplast Launches Advanced Compostable Resin Grades for Bioplastics

Three new advanced resin grades from Cereplast have received the DIN CERTCO certifications of compostability. The Compostable 3002, Compostable 3010, and Compostable 3020 resin grades have improved properties and are designed for applications on blown film extruder lines during compostable bag manufacture.

Cereplast is a designer and manufacturer of bio-based, sustainable and compostable plastics that can be used as substitutes for various types of traditional plastics in different types of converting processes, including blow molding, injection molding, extrusions and thermoforming.

The three new Cereplast compostable resin grades can be used as substitutes for trash bag and carry bag applications. They provide different ranges of tear resistance, stretch and thickness. They have better tear resistance, processability and lower stretch under loaded conditions, when compared with the other products. DIN CERTCO has provided the certification for the three new resins that can be composted when up to a thickness of 0.0254 mm.

DIN CERTCO is a globally reputed German institute for standardization. EU Bioplastics has recognized DIN CERTCO for the certification of bioplastics. This recognition is a necessity in Europe for marketing compostable resins.

Cereplast Chairman and CEO, Frederic Scheer, stated that the company was pleased to launch the new bioplastic resins range that provided less stretch, better tear resistance and processability to address the market demand for compostable films with improved properties.
