ExxonMobil Yugen Kaisha (EMYK) has declared that in the year 2012, Japan Butyl company (JBC), has expanded its halobutyl rubber facility’s production rate to about 80,000 t annually from its manufacturing facility located at kashima. In five years, this production increase is the second turn in the halobutyl rubber facility at Kashima.
John Lyon, ExxonMobil Chemical Butyly Polymers’ Vice President, stated that there is an emerging demand for halobutyl rubber, which is expected to have 6% growth every year, mainly in the Asia Pacific region. Lyon added that with the capacity expansion, the company’s joint venture will contribute about 10,000 t annually in the Asia Pacific region, which is aligned with the long-term commitment of the company to satisfy the market demand. Lyon commented that due to the rapid growth in auto production in china, tire marketing for new trucks and cars along with their replacement is also increasing at a high rate. Lyon stated that the air in tubeless radial tires of both heavy duty trucks and passenger cars can be retained with the company’s manufactured halobutyl rubber.
The butyl polymers producing facility of JBC at Kawasaki has finished its major expansion in 2010 to reach the annual total capacity of 98,000 t by employing the company’s proprietary technology solutions to reduce power consumption.
