At NPE 2012 plastics trade fair, a global manufacturer of engineered polymers and styrenic block copolymers (SBCs), Kraton Performance Polymers, will exhibit its most recent innovations.
The innovations include Nexar performance polymers, automotive interior slush molded soft skins, faux leather, wire and cable solutions, personal care products and medical solutions. The company delivers innovative alternatives to a wide range of materials, including EPDM-based products, natural rubber, PA, PC, PET, TPO, PVC, TPU and TPV. Michael Oberkirch, VP of Advanced Materials, stated that the company provides safe and feasible alternative solutions to less efficient and less environment-friendly products.
Oberkirch also added that Kraton’s growth strategy focuses on the areas of opportunities to expand and develop completely new market spaces for its solutions. The products’ aesthetics such as soft touch and clarity, and inherent strengths such as impact and moisture resistance, resilience and flexibility help the company to move forward in its strategy.
Nexar performance polymers are ideal for water separation, filtration and transport. The slush molded soft skin from Kraton is a PVC alternative used in the automotive industry. The company’s polymers are extensively used in flame retarded compounds as an alternative to PVC in wires and cables. In addition, personal care products use Kraton’s polymer solutions, as they offer multi-directional elasticity, high strength, enhanced durability, improved flexibility and better comfort.
Kraton G Enhanced Rubber Segment (ERS) line of polymers is an ideal replacement for PVC, which is traditionally used in several medical tubing applications and drug delivery bags. The higher flow styrenic block copolymers offer an affordable, environmentally friendly substitute for PVC and polyurethane coated fabrics that are used in robust upholstery applications.
