A full and busy schedule awaits delegates attending this year’s Euro PM2013 Congress in Gothenburg, 15 – 18 September 2013.
The opening Plenary Session, Monday 09.30 – 12.00, will include an ‘Overview of the Status and Trends in the European PM Industry’ by new EPMA President Mr Philippe Gundermann, and a presentation on ‘Materials Development to Meet the Future Challenges of the Automotive Industry’ by Dr Jan-Eric Sundgren, Executive Vice President Public and Environmental Affairs at Volvo AB in Sweden.
In addition over 200 papers feature in the technical programme which will be running in parallel over four sessions and the launch of the EPMA Keynote Paper Award, sponsored by the Journal of Powder Metallurgy. Keynote papers will cover the areas of PM Structural Parts, Hard Materials, New Materials and Applications, and Hot Isostatic Pressing.
The programme will also include in-depth Special Interest Seminars on:

On the last afternoon of the congress, registered participants will have the opportunity to take advantage of one of the factory tours available to them. This year’s factory tours programme consists of:
- A tour of additive manufacturing equipment at the Arcam AB facility.
- A tour around Chalmers University of Technology powder metallurgy research department and laboratory facilities.
- A tour of metal powder supplier Höganäs AB facilities in Halmstad and Höganäs
- A tour around the Volvo Car assembly plant to see how a car is built.
As part of the overall Euro PM2013 Congress & Exhibition, the exhibition is shaping up to be one of the main PM events of the year, as a high number of the PM supply chain companies have already taken a space at the annual show, making it the place in Europe to discuss PM related business in one place.
‘The centrally located exhibition area consisting of coffee stations, Internet Cafés, lunch area, EPMA Showcase and Poster Author area will make for an industrious area within the event schedule’ explained Andrew Almond, EPMA’s Exhibition Manager. He went on to add ‘A number of non-compete time slots have been allocated within the technical programme to foster and develop delegate and exhibitor interactions, this also includes a special City Reception provided by the City of Gothenburg and co-sponsored by Powder Metallurgy Review, which will allow for a more informal atmosphere to allow exhibitors and delegates to relax and socialise.’
Advance bookings for this year’s event are now being taken, with 31 July 2013 as the final day for taking advantage of the advance registration rate, at www.epma.com/pm2013
