Sigma Labs and Los Alamos National Laboratory Enter MOU for 3D Metal Printing Technology

Sigma Labs, Inc. announced today that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Technology Transfer Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory covering the technology space of 3D Printing of metals.

Mark Cola, President and CEO of Sigma Labs, remarked that "under the MOU, Sigma Labs and Los Alamos National Laboratory will seek to identify existing technologies at Los Alamos that are not currently under exclusive license or otherwise encumbered that may be of significant commercial value in the domain of additive manufacturing or 3D Printing, especially for metals. Los Alamos was one of the first players in the 3D printing of metals back in the mid-1990s. We are therefore very pleased for this opportunity to team with world-class scientists and engineers to seek to identify technologies with potential to improve the quality and speed of current 3D printing processes for metals. Specifically, we are targeting technologies that focus on materials, sensors, and laser systems that could have impact on the further development of 3D printing of metals. We are hopeful that this MOU will lead to an agreement with Los Alamos for the commercialization of specific technologies relating to metal 3D printing."

Pursuant to the MOU, neither Sigma Labs nor Los Alamos is obligated to take any action until a mutually acceptable agreement has been executed by the parties. There can be no assurance, however, that the parties will enter into such a definitive agreement.
