Wheels Electronics Selects Micrel’s RF Solutions for Remote Keyless Entry and Access Solutions

Micrel Inc., an industry leader in high-performance Linear and Power solutions, LAN and timing and communications solutions, today announced that Wheels Electronics Manufacturing SDN, BHD, a leading manufacturer of a comprehensive range of quality automobile and home security systems in Malaysia, has chosen Micrel’s line of RF solutions for its line of Remote Keyless Entry and RF access solutions. Wheels supplies their RKE solutions to Tier 1 automotive makers in different regions.

Wheels Electronics is utilizing Micrel’s range of RF IC solutions. The MICRF211 and MICRF213, for example, are general purpose, 3V QwikRadio® receivers operating at 433.92MHz with typical sensitivity of -110dBm and 315MHz with typical sensitivity of -110dBm, respectively. Another one of Micrel’s RF solutions is the MICRF113 is a high-performance, easy-to-use, single-chip ASK Transmitter IC for remote wireless applications in the 300MHz to 450MHz frequency band. The MICRF211 functions as a super-heterodyne receiver for OOK and ASK modulation up to 10kbps and the MICRF213 is a super-heterodyne receiver for OOK and ASK modulation up to 7.2kbps.

The down-conversion mixer provides image rejection on both the MICRF211 and MICRF213. All post-detection data filtering is provided on each of the devices and the user need only configure the device with a set of easily determined values, based upon data rate, code modulation format, and desired duty-cycle operation. These products are ideal for industrial and consumer applications where simplicity and form factor are important.
