The first week of December sees the Materials Research Society's 40th annual fall meeting and exhibit in Boston, MA.
MRS was founded in 1973 and now has over 16,000 members. The Fall meeting and exhibit will be held at the Hynes Convention Centre and nearby Sheraton hotel. It will feature over 50 technical materials science symposia by leading experts, as well as exhibits from industry specialists.
The AZoM team will be reporting live from the conference, but if you are attending, we have rounded up the highlights in advance.
Bruker
Bruker will be demonstrating their flagship AFM – the Dimension FastScan, with Bede Pittenger, applications scientist at Bruker AXS, presenting a talk entitled ‘Investigating Time and Temperature Dependent Mechanical Properties of Polymeric Materials at the Nanoscale with Atomic Force Microscopy’. Catch the symposium at 4:30pm on December 2nd, or stop by booth #300 for a demonstration.
Bruker are also offering advice on choosing the right probe for your AFM application, and will be handing out free AFM probes with consultations at booth #320.
Carl Zeiss Microscopy
Stefanie Freitag of Carl Zeiss will be presenting a talk entitled 'Seeing Beyond Graphene: Basic Research Going to the Final Graphene Containing Product', where she will be talking about the challenges of the transfer process, scaling up, and interfacing.
The talk is at 8pm on December 3rd, or you can catch Zeiss at booth #310.
Gatan
Gatan will be exhibiting at booth #412, and their Imaging Product Manaer, Cory Czarnik, will be presenting a talk on 'Translating Big Data into Better Information for TEM: the Camera Evolves'. The presentation will take place on December 1st and will discuss challenges and opportunities when dealing with large data systems in TEM applications.
You can also find Gatan at booth #412.
Netzsch
Marc-Antoine Thermitus, Senior Applications Scientist at Netzsch Premier Technologies, is leading a talk on 'Thermal Diffusivity Measurement of Nanometer Thin Films with the Ultrafast Laser Flash Method'. Catch this talk at 4:30pm on December 2nd, or call by Netzsch's booth, #1025.
