Lake Shore Spotlighting New Cryogenic Sensor Input Modules at 38th ICHEP

Exhibit to focus on 240 Series for remote, PLC-based monitoring in large-scale physics applications.

Lake Shore Cryotronics, a leading innovator in solutions for measurement over a wide range of temperature and magnetic field conditions, will discuss a new series of cryogenic sensor monitoring products at next week’s 38th International Conference on High Energy Physics (ICHEP) in Chicago.

Currently available on a pre-order basis, the 240 Series sensor input modules provide scientists with a precise, convenient way to remotely monitor cryogenic sensors in particle accelerator, fusion reactor and other large-scale physics applications employing distributed PLC-based control.

Our benchtop instruments are trusted throughout the world for precision cryogenic measurement, and now the same measurement performance can be achieved in distributed PROFIBUS applications with these new DIN rail-mountable modules. What’s more, their circuitry allows for longer cable runs between the modules and the sensors, which is ideal for applications where sensors must be located in hazardous environments.

Lake Shore offers two versions, allowing users to balance between the high-speed 2-input (240-2P) module and the high-density, cost-efficient 8-input (240-8P) module.

Both versions are optimized to work with Lake Shore Cernox™ RTDs, platinum RTDs and silicon diodes and can be easily networked to PLCs from Siemens, Rockwell Automation and others. Temperature values are communicated directly to the PLC master device, eliminating the need to use additional costly analog conversion equipment or complex PLC programming to generate temperature values.

In addition to the 240 Series modules, Lake Shore will be at ICHEP Booth 311 to discuss other cryogenic solutions, including their complete range of sensors, controllers, monitors and probes, as well as cryogenic accessories for sensor wiring, cabling, soldering, fastening, insulating and heat sinking.
