ASM International is the world’s leading professional organization for materials scientists, engineers, and technicians. They deliver professional development and improved materials performance for over 25,000 individual members, and engage and connect them to a global network of peers. ASM provides trusted materials information through reference content, education courses, international conferences, and applied research. They provide resources to enable members to predict materials behavior, overcome design challenges, and achieve superior product performance.
In 2016 ASM went through a significant laboratory renovation. The renovation included the dual goal to provide robust quantitative image analysis and training to our members as well as update, automate and modernize micro-hardness testing capabilities. These goals were accomplished through strategic partnerships with manufacturers such as Clemex and Indentec. Clemex/Indentec Microhardness Testing System encompassed both goals in one piece of equipment, which has continued to benefit the development and delivery of training needed by ASM members, customers, and industries served.
The partnership with Clemex and Indentec has significantly improved ASM Education Courses such as Metallographic Techniques, Mechanical Testing of Metals, and Introduction to Metallurgical Lab Practices. Clemex equipment is used throughout the courses to help students gain a better understanding of the content in our metallographic teaching laboratory. In conjunction with the new equipment, ASM and Clemex are currently developing courses such as Quantitative Analysis of Microstructures and Inclusion Rating of Steel to help further educate the materials science community. ASM is looking forward to continuing growing with Clemex to provide our members with the latest equipment and training.
