Cleaving and Scribing Small Samples

Preparing samples 1 mm wide

FlipScribe and LatticeAx from LatticeGear can help prepare samples as narrow as 1 mm in width.

The FlipScribe with a small sample holder is used along with a lamp to light and magnify the sample. To obtain thin samples from a larger sample, it is first scribed along the entire length of the backside. Using the LatticeGear-designed small cleaving pliers, the sample is cleaved.
