Cereplast, Inc., manufacturer of proprietary bio-based, sustainable plastics, announced today that it is supplying Quickpoint, a top manufacturer of promotional items, with bioplastic resin for a new line of environmentally friendly coffee mugs. Two different mug options made from Cereplast resin are already available – a traditional coffee mug and commuter mug made to fit easily into car cupholders. Products are available for order on the Quickpoint website under the EcoAdTM line of promotional products.
The Quickpoint mugs utilize Cereplast CompostablesTM resins and have undergone extensive testing to ensure they stand up to the demands of traditional hot beverage containers. Not only do the products withstand the high temperatures of hot beverages, but they are also microwaveable.
“The application from Quickpoint is an excellent example of the flexibility of bioplastic resins,” said Frederic Scheer, chairman and CEO, Cereplast. “We collaborated with Quickpoint to design and develop a product that could be used like any other mug, but with the advantage of being nearly 100 percent bio-based.”
“We’ve seen a large number of clients looking to include sustainability into their promotional merchandise, and Cereplast offered a solution for one of our most requested product lines – the coffee mug,” said Duane Mayer, vice president of Marketing, Quickpoint. “Since we began marketing the new mugs made from Cereplast resin, they have been one of the most requested sample items and we’ve already fulfilled several orders.”
