Nippon Steel Chemical to Add 3 Million Square Metres Capacity to PCB Production

Nippon Steel Chemical have invested approximately 5 billion yen in their Kyushu Works. The money will be spent on two facilities for the manufacture of ‘Espanex’. Construction on the facilities has commenced.

Espanex is a two-layer copper clad laminate for flexible printed circuit boards. The new facilities will add another 3 million square metres to their capacity, giving them an total output of 8.5 million square metres when the extra capacity comes on line.

The first of the new facilities is due to start operations in July 2005, with the second following suit in October 2005.
