22 years ago Goran Spetz started Elastocon, the Swedish test instrument company, with a range of cell ageing ovens for polymers which offered major improvements in the control of temperature ( uniformly throughout the complete chamber) and precise control of air velocity and exchange rates.
Improvements in performance such as these have permitted the preparation of International Standards with tighter specifications which has improved test accuracy, repeatability and reproducibility within the industry. Elastocon have since designed and manufactured an extended range of testing instruments for rubbers and plastics, one particular specialisation being continuous stress relaxation apparatus whose performance is enhanced by utilising the precision ageing ovens. Control of precise temperature over long periods has been found to be critical when determining product lifetime predictions from test periods lasting for more than 1000 hours.
Elastocon have now launched a new range of cell ageing ovens which incorporate a number of improvements based on the knowledge gained from selling over 200 cell ovens since the company began.
Improved insulation for lower energy consumption resulting in lower external surface temperatures.
New touch screen control utilising a micro PLC, featuring individual cell count down timers and alarm history.
Reduced height versions specifically for stress relaxation tests with an integrated draught hood.
All the ovens are available with either 4 or 6 cells with a single temperature control or individual cell control. A version for temperature cycling from -40°C to 200°C will follow shortly.
