mPhase Technology Reserve Battery Technology Satisfies UN DOT Safety Standards

mPhase Technologies, Inc. (OTC.BB:XDSL), the global leader in the development of Power On Command reserve battery technology, today announced that its mPower On Command Reserve Battery has successfully met all United Nations / US Department of Transportation (UN DOT) safety standards and has received UN DOT certification for the safe transport of lithium-containing batteries. The On Command Reserve Battery is the first backup power source designed for portable consumer electronic applications, the mPower Emergency Illuminator being the first application.

The certification provides proof that mPhase's reserve battery meets or exceeds the requirements for the US DOT 49 CFR 173.185 Hazardous Materials; Transportation of Lithium Batteries, and the UN ST/SG/AC.10/11 Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Manual of Tests and Criteria. To meet receive certification, a battery must pass eight different tests: altitude, thermal, vibration, shock, impact, overcharge, forced discharge, and external short circuit.

Ron Durando, CEO of mPhase Technologies, said, "We believe this is the first time a reserve battery for the consumer market has achieved UN and US DOT certification. This certification is important because it validates the safety of our reserve battery technology and brings us closer to mass-commercialization of the technology. We are also working on our CE approval for sales in Europe, and MGA Research will be testing our battery for the Underwriters Laboratory 1642 certification shortly."

MGA Research performed laboratory testing of the battery. The company is a leading provider of third-party battery testing and development services to original equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and value added distributors.
