Specialty chemical manufacturer Buckman is introducing a new green Flamebloc® GS line of fire retardant products to the commercial and consumer markets.
The GS (Green Series) portfolio of products are zero VOC, made from all GRAS raw materials, and requires no halogen to activate their enhanced fire-retardant capabilities. These greener products are designed to meet the most demanding market requirements for fire protection that are currently being met by less environmentally-responsible chemistries.
This innovative product portfolio includes 13 substrate specific chemistries designed to protect paper, wood, leather, metal, plastic, and fabric. Based on the proprietary chemistry of Flame Seal Products, Inc., a unique water-based polymeric amino-polyphosphate composition provides superior char forming protection against flame and heat by coating or adsorption of the product.
Buckman’s highly skilled technical sales force and distribution network together with Flame Seal’s code experts are in charge of product sales. A “Solutions Team” composed of Buckman and Flame Seal experts will work through the customer’s product requirements by providing code assistance, testing, support, and project management skills. Buckman believes this approach will bring thorough, cost-effective, and regulatory-compliant service to its customers.
Jim Hachtmann, Buckman’s Business Manager for the Coatings & Plastics group, said, “The market has been looking for a green FR chemistry, and we are pleased to provide the solution. We are excited about the current and future possibilities of this chemistry and look forward to working with Flame Seal on the next generation of products.”
Buckman has an exclusive distribution agreement for this technology in North America. International sales are being handled through Buckman’s global locations.
