Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced today that its specialty metals facility, Aerojet Ordnance Tennessee (AOT), has received AS9100B certification.
AS9100 certification is the premium quality system standard for companies operating in the aerospace industry as well as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirement for subcontractors. AOT's certification is the culmination of a three-month effort that was fast-tracked at the request of several current and prospective customers. With this development, all Aerojet production facilities are now AS9100 registered.
AOT passed its audit with no major or minor findings. Furthermore, there were no observations for improvement. Intertek performed the audit from June 28-30 and awarded the certificate on July 12.
"AOT's perfect score under an accelerated schedule is a testament to the company's strong emphasis on quality," said Aerojet's Vice President and Deputy to the President, Dick Bregard. "Furthermore, the AS9100 registration supports Aerojet's goal of expanding into commercial specialty metals markets."
