A panel of 14 packaging industry and national trade association experts selected the MiniBlue II applicator based on criteria including, economic impact on the manufacturing process, sustainability, engineering innovation, user-friendliness, safety and design aesthetics.

A statement issued by the awards jury explains, “Nordson implemented unique innovations that advance hot melt dispensing technology and further the advantages of packaging with hot melt, over previous dispensers and alternate forms of bonding and sealing. In particular, they have significantly increased application precision as well as dispensing speed, enabling more efficient packaging at higher line speeds with less waste. Nordson’s patented and patent pending seal technology delivers extended service life and permits longer maintenance intervals, making adhesive dispensing considerably more productive and user-friendly.”

Employing the theme Pack the future!, the German Packaging Institute (dvi) commended a total of 22 new developments in 7 categories at the 2010 Nuremburg trade show.

The German Packaging Awards competition, initiated in the 1960s, is open to international and domestic manufacturers, developers, designers and users of innovative packaging solutions, and promotes creativity and innovation from new and established companies. Awards recipients’ product entries must demonstrate technological advancement and functionality that positively impact and set new standards for the future of the packaging industry. The event conducted under the auspices of Germany’s Federal Minister, Economics and Technology, Rainer Brüderle.
