Huhtamaki Ronsberg has won one of the top awards in the Alufoil Trophy 2005 competition which, the company believes, confirms its decision to focus on new product development. Only five Trophies were achieved in this year’s competition organised by the European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA).
A stand-up pouch for wet sauces manufactured by Unilever Bestfoods in the UK won the Alufoil Trophy for Huhtamaki Ronsberg. Knorr Creamy Parsley Sauce was launched last year in the PET/ALU/OPA/PP gravure printed and matt lacquered pouch which offered excellent shelf stand out as well as product protection.
The sterilisable matt lacquer offers superb optical characteristics and provides less spots and less visible creases on the overall pack. The high quality print design is achieved by six colour gravure printing.
Judges felt that the combination of technical and decorative properties demonstrated in the pack meant that stand up pouch technology had been moved forward once more. Huhtamaki Ronsberg has been developing stand up pouch laminates for many years and today’s structures ensure attractive appearance, optimum barrier properties, high puncture resistance, sterilisability and convenient handling.
“This liquid pouch brings something extra to the packaging of premium sauces,” said leading independent judge Professor Ingo Büren, of the University of Stuttgart.
The company believes this award confirms its decision to focus on new product development in this area and is recognition of its core competencies in lamination and gravure. It is also a reward for the people at Huhtamaki Ronsberg for their hard work in helping to take stand up pouch technology to the next levels.
“The unique characteristics aluminium foil brings to the packaging market deserve widespread recognition and Huhtamaki Ronsberg is a very worthy trophy winner,” said Stefan Glimm, executive director, EAFA.
