At the UTECH Asia 2011 event, Momentive Performance Materials has unveiled several new additives for application in polyurethane foams.
The company has worked with its clients and the industry to develop new technologies and bring solutions to the marketplace that meets both production and end-user requirements. The polyurethane products featured at the event include Niax Silicone L-1507, Niax Silicone L-5466, Niax Property Modifier PM-1, Niax Silicone L-3637, Niax Silicone L-3627, Geolite Modifier 213, Niax Color Stabilizer CS-26LF, Niax Silicone L-595LV and Niax Silicone L-658.
Niax Silicone L-1507 is a non-hydrolyzable silicone surfactant that can be used for polyester-based foam formulations. It can enhance dimensional stability and offers fine cell structure. Niax Silicone L-5466 is a silicone copolymer having potential application in rigid polyurethane foam manufacturing.
Another new additive showcased by Momentive Performance Materials is Niax Property Modifier PM-1, which is capable of enhancing wet set property and decreased force-to-crush. Geolite Modifier 213 is a softening agent that can minimize or completely eliminate the use of auxiliary blowing agents (ABAs) in several conventional slabstock foam grades.
Niax Color Stabilizer CS-26LF is an outstanding colour stabilizer that can be used for heat and flame lamination of polyether foams. The material improves indirect light stability and bonding strength of polyester and polyether foams. Niax Silicone L-658 is a fire-retardant silicone surfactant that can be considered for use in flexible slabstock foams.
