BASF is celebrating 50 years of manufacturing and distribution of the Cellasto brand of polyurethane finished parts for the automotive industry.
Cellasto has been developed by the Lemförde–based Elastogran, which currently operates under the Polyurethanes division of BASF. At present, car drivers are relying on products like Cellasto to run their vehicles’ smoothly and safely on the road. For example, Cellasto-made spring and damping parts are environmentally compatible, durable and volume-compressible. They prevent noise, vibrations and harshness, thus allowing a pleasant driving experience on the road.
The increasing demand for the Cellasto products is driven by the growth of the automotive sector. This flexible product production was automated during the 70s and in the 80s new fields of application have been developed.
Engineers of BASF work closely with several vehicle manufacturers to develop new models. The company operates six production facilities in Europe, Asia and North and South America and assures reliable supply to clients. Shanghai is the new location that commenced production in summer 2011.
BASF’s global key account management ensures dependability of the Cellasto business expansion. As a technology and market leader in polyurethanes industry, the company focuses on long-term success. Hence, it is important to produce products locally and supply to the customers in particular regions reliably and rapidly said Wayne T Smith, President BASF Polyurethanes.
