Cytec Industries, a specialty chemicals and materials technology company, has formulated a new acrylic modified alkyd resin, RESYDROLTM AY 6705. This water-borne resin is an ideal solution to feed and protect all types of timber decking and exterior wood stains.
It extends durability through its exceptional penetration and enhanced UV resistance properties for timber substrates. This leads to longer film integrity, less darkening, superior color retention and good resistance to wood stress and strain.
In addition, RESYDROL AY 6705 has low VOC and excellent chemical and water resistance. Its fast drying capability allows application of two levels of coating within a short time interval. The resin does not peel or chip off and enables easy repair and renovation. RESYDROL AY 6705 is a hybrid system that has certain additional positive properties of both acrylics and alkyds, including long open time, low minimum film formation temperature (MFFT) that allows formulation below 100gr/liter, superior cross linking, rapid dirt pick up resistance and good water repellency. Resydrol AY 6705 acrylic modified alkyd emulsion can be utilized alone or with other water-borne resins for industrial finishes, exterior wood stains and decorative paints. The self-emulsified resin from Cytec Industries also offers superior compatibility with colorants and additives.
