US- based company, CAE specialising in simulation, modelling and training in the area of civil aviation and defence has been awarded a contract by the Emirates Airline to provide two full flight simulators for Airbus A380 and Boeing 777.
The announcement was made by CAE at the ongoing Dubai Air Show. While the full flight simulator for Boeing 777 will be delivered to the training facility owned by Emirates Airline at Dubai by the first half of 2013, the A380 flight simulator will be delivered by the second half of 2013. The contract is valued above CAD 34 million.
According to Jeff Roberts who is the President for Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services for CAE, Emirates Airline has been a regular customer of the company for the past 20 years and CAE has an important part to play in the expansion plans of the airline. Presently, CAE has more than 100 training facilities located in 20 countries where the company trains 80,000 crew members every year. The company is using its technology to foray into the mining and healthcare industries.
Emirates Group has a fleet consisting of 160 planes and has ordered for 200 more. At present, it flies to 115 destinations situated in 67 countries.
