AMI has reported that the Polymer Sourcing 2012 conference will take place from May 14 to16, 2012, in Hamburg. This will be AMI forum’s eight edition that was begun especially for companies, which were a part of all phases of the European polymer supply chain.
During 2011, the polymer distribution channel growth was slowed as customers became cautious about their pricing, purchasing and supply volatility, which affected buying trends.. Since material is directed eastwards to the expanding Asian market, Middle East polymer sources have not had the desired effect on European supply options. Simultaneously, the European resin providers continue to change and rationalise the production assets along with suggestions for the supply and availability of certain grades. Due to the drying up of credit lines and slowing down of economic growth, the prediction for 2012-2013 remains uncertain.
Mr. Kamal Nanavaty, Reliance Industries’ President, will give the keynote address in this year’s conference. He will discuss about the growth of India as a supplier for the plastics market. Dr. Bert Vanwambeke, Balta Group’s Purchasing Director, will also give a presentation about the challenges in sourcing for the polymer market.
The recent advancements in the engineering styrenics and polymer markets along with the papers from Bayer Material Science, AMI and Ineos Olefins and Polyolefins, and Styrolution will be covered in this conference.
At the close of the conference there will be a session that will be focussed on Distributor’s perspectives.Papers from Plastribution and Albis Plastic, Distrupol, Velox, and Biesterfeld Plastic will be included in this session. The session will cover subjects like risk management, CRM benefits, supply chain management and SAP business Intelligence software, and the new progress in the industry. Biesterfeld Plastic is a sponsor of this event.
