Lehigh Technologies, a company that provides sustainable materials, has entered into a partnership with Spanish recycler, HERA Holdings to introduce micronized rubber powder (MRP) from Lehigh Technologies into the tire, coatings and consumer and industrial plastics markets of Europe.
The partnership enables Lehigh Technologies to work in conjunction with Indugarbi, the Navarra based subsidiary of HERA Holdings, to develop the geographical presence of Lehigh in the targeted industrial sectors in Europe. The experience possessed by HERA in introducing new materials into the supply chains of industries in combination with Lehigh’s technical expertise in Micronized Rubber Powders is expected to promote the acceptance of these products by various industries in Europe.
The cryogenic turbo mil technology employed by Lehigh recycles used industrial rubber and tires at the end of their tether into affordable and sustainable alternatives for rubber compounds and polymers used in manufacture of tires and other high performance rubber products. MRP enhances the sustainability of the finished products at economical costs and also offers reliability and performance on par with products made from conventional raw materials.
Five of the leading ten manufacturers of tires in the world are customers of Lehigh Technologies. The company’s MRP has been used in the manufacture of more than 140 million tires. HERA Holding will make modifications to their recycling facility at Navarra in Spain to accommodate the production of Lehigh’s micronized rubber powder.
Alan Barton, CEO of Lehigh Technologies, stated that HERA’s approach complemented that of Lehigh’s. He also cited the European market’s focus on sustainability and interest in MRP as reasons for their foray.
