In a presentation at the 29th Symposium of Particulate Design and Preparations, on Friday 26 October in Toyohashi, Japan, Dr Nishil Malde, Asia Pacific General Manager for Freeman Technology, explains how the FT4 Powder Rheometer can be used to support the optimisation of wet granulation processes.
Wet granulation is widely applied across the pharmaceutical industry and elsewhere to produce granules with optimal properties for downstream operations such as tableting. Identifying and detecting an endpoint for processing that delivers to this goal is challenging and critical. The FT4 Powder Rheometer allows the measurement of dynamic powder properties that have been shown to precisely track the transition from wet mass to granules and is a proven and useful tool for wet granulation applications.
Dr Malde's presentation explains how dynamic powder characterisation is carried out and how it can be used to track granulation processes. A key focus is how the resulting data accelerate the identification of optimal processing conditions and support efficient process scale-up.
