New Mexico Consortium Laboratory Project Awarded to Hamilton Scientific

Hamilton Scientific of De Pere, Wisconsin was selected to provide their self-manufactured products for the recently completed 14,000 sq. ft. New Mexico Consortium Biological Laboratory located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Products installed included Distinction laboratory adaptable bench systems and unique, filtered Infinity fume hoods featuring GreenFumeHood® technology.

Of particular interest to the New Mexico Consortium directors and managers was the installation of Hamilton Scientific Infinity fume hoods that utilize Neutrodine filters in place of traditional carbon filters to eliminate emissions. The non-ducted, filtered Infinity is environmentally friendly, features guardian angel monitoring with Microsoft® interface which feeds back to the lab’s Environmental Health and Safety personnel, and is ASHRAE 110 tested.

To ensure a successful project, Hamilton Scientific was selected along with their dealer partner, Haldeman-Homme, Inc. – a laboratory consultant with comprehensive design capabilities. The team’s combined technical expertise and design services were recognized above other vendors, and providing the most viable options for fume hoods and lab benches was an achieved goal for the Consortium.

According to Dr. Steven Buelow, Director of Laboratory Research, “It was imperative that the overall design and installation of the lab benches provided flexibility and collaboration among our scientists that study plant biology, as well as our biologists, chemists, microbiologists, and ecologists. We are very pleased that our goals have been met.”

The New Mexico Consortium is an innovative effort to engage universities and industry in scientific research in the nation's interest and to increase the role of Los Alamos National Laboratory in science, education and economic development. This non-profit corporation formed by the three New Mexico research universities focuses on facilitating collaborations at the National Laboratory interface.
