Axalta Coating Systems is proud to partner with the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology (DIO), as a sponsor of its EyesOn Design awards. Last week, Axalta presented the first-ever Innovative Use of Color, Graphics and Materials award at the Detroit North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).
The awards honor vehicles making their auto show debuts and are selected by more than 30 judges who are active or retired automotive designers and chairs of transportation design education programs. The award recipient was the Volvo Concept XC Coupe.
“Axalta is pleased that the DIO is a beneficiary of our awards sponsorship. Our business is about brilliant color and we would like nothing more than for everyone to see the beauty of vibrant hues. There were plenty of great vehicles in the running for this award. So we are thrilled that the Volvo Concept XC Coupe, that proudly 'wears' our paint, won. The car was chosen for its appealing exterior finish,” said David Fischer, Global OEM Vice President of Marketing at Axalta.
The Innovative Use of Color, Graphics and Materials award is a new addition to the EyesOn Design celebration. Axalta is proud to be able to sponsor the new award and to be part of a long standing event in Detroit that celebrates automotive color. Axalta intends to continue to work closely with automotive designers on new color developments and concepts.
