Frost & Sullivan Honors Avnet Technology Solutions with Manufacturing Leadership Award

E2open, the leading provider of strategic, cloud-based solutions for collaborative planning and execution across global trading networks, today announced that one of its customers has received a 2014 Manufacturing Leadership Award (ML Award) from industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan.

Avnet Technology Solutions, the global IT solutions distribution leader and an operating group of Avnet, Inc., was recognized in the “Customer Value Leadership” category for a new supply chain system it developed based in part on E2open’s solutions. The new system enabled Avnet to improve the predictability and visibility around the delivery of the converged IT infrastructure solutions it integrates for Avnet’s solution provider partners in the U.S. and Canada.

“Customers expect that deliveries should arrive on time, in the timeline that they anticipate – even with significant variation in product availability and today’s complex supply chains,” said Mark Woodward, President and CEO, E2open. “At E2open, we take tremendous pride in helping our customers commit with confidence, and their success remains our highest priority. Avnet continues to demonstrate a commitment to supply chain excellence and innovation, and we are pleased that they have been recognized by Frost & Sullivan for their achievements.”

The multibillion-dollar technology industry is transforming to respond to rising customer expectations by driving new sales and operations planning (S&OP) strategies. With a goal of putting its solution provider partners front and center, Avnet developed a new approach to fulfillment to align with the unique needs of the rapidly growing converged IT infrastructure market. The organization engaged E2open to assist in the planning and execution of the new system, which has significantly improved visibility and predictability around the delivery of custom-integrated converged IT infrastructure solutions and collaboration with Avnet’s industry-leading suppliers.

“The integration of converged IT infrastructure solutions is a highly complex process, and Avnet must be able to seamlessly manage significant variation in product availability across multiple suppliers and complex supply chains,” said Chuck Fries, Vice President, Material Operations, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas. “By focusing on supply chain innovation and automation with tools from E2open, we have been able to improve the visibility for our partners into the process and accelerate the delivery of converged IT infrastructure solutions. The Manufacturing Leadership Award underscores our commitment to continually improving our processes to help our partners excel in the market and profitably expand into new markets.”

The ML Awards are now in their tenth year. “Each year, the Manufacturing Leadership Awards honor companies and individuals that are shaping the future of global manufacturing,” said Heather Holst Knudsen, President, Manufacturing Leadership Council. “This year’s winners demonstrate the enormous amount of innovation that is taking place in the supply chain and manufacturing industries on a global scale.” Nominations for breakthrough projects are entered into specific categories and evaluated by a panel of expert judges. ML Award winners will be honored on June 5, 2014 at a gala celebration following the Manufacturing Leadership Summit, a gathering of manufacturing leaders from around the world.
